6 Things You Can Do To Be Happier and Healthier In 2024

Is one of your resolutions to be happier and healthier in 2024 but you have no idea where to start? These are healthy habits to start implementing this year.

1. Stay off your phone at bedtime. 

Being on your phone at night can affect your sleep cycle, strain your eyes and increase anxiety. It also keeps your brain active, which is the opposite of what you’re trying to accomplish when trying to sleep. Read a book, write in your journal, pray or meditate before bed to avoid using your phone. 

2. Sleep 7-8 hours a night. 

When your to-do list is never-ending, sleep may be towards the bottom of your priorities, but getting those crucial hours of sleep has benefits: it reduces stress, gives you more energy the next day and increases comprehension skills. 

3. Drink a glass of water in the a.m.  

Your cup of caffeine may entice you to get out of bed each morning, but a glass of water is healthier. It rehydrates your body after a hopefully good night’s sleep, and it also increases your energy levels. 

4. Surround yourself with good people. 

The company you keep matters. When you surround yourself with negativity, you’re more likely to be more negative and that can impact your mood. Try to surround yourself with more uplifting and positive people. 

5. Move your body.  

You don’t need a gym membership—walking outside for 30 minutes will do just fine. Taking a long walk, especially in the mornings when you first wake up, is good for the soul. 

6. Practice gratitude. 

Similar to surrounding yourself with good people, try and think about what (and who) you’re thankful for. Remind yourself of this often; too many times, we can forget the blessings we have and that can impact our mood.
