When is the last time you told someone, “I love you” or asked, “How are you?” This simple question can be a way to check in and let them know how much you love and appreciate them. Here are six easy ways to love others.

1. Surprise them with a phone call or text.
You never know how much a text or call out of the blue could mean to someone. Call or text a friend or family member and listen to anything that they are going through.

2. Say hello … to anyone!
It may be the person you’re passing in the grocery store or your next-door neighbor. Whoever it is, smile at someone today. You never know who may need it.

3. Ask someone how you can help them.
Maybe you want to help others, but don’t know how to help specifically. Maybe someone struggles to ask for help. You never know what a stressed-out parent, student or friend may need help with.

4. Talk and listen to someone who is different from you.
It’s easy to only talk to someone who thinks, talks or sounds like you. Broaden your friendships and circles to those who have different circumstances and who looks and thinks differently than you.

5. Listen.
Sometimes, the only thing you can do for someone to show your love for them is to listen. Listen to someone who needs to vent or share about a particular struggle in their life. Galatians 6:2 says, “Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.”

6. Pray.
Prayer is a powerful tool. Consider praying for the other person. James 5:16 says, “Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.”
