As we head into the holiday season, it’s only natural that we start reflecting on what we are thankful for. For Christians, it’s a time we can consider the blessings God has given us throughout the year. Charity Gayle’s “Thank You Jesus” serves as an excellent reminder for all of us to thank Jesus for the simple fact that He died for us and brought us out of the darkness we were once living in. I love how this song has such simple, direct lyrics, while still using very biblical and thought-provoking vocabulary. The song follows a beautiful arc and utilizes text-painting wonderfully. The music builds as we move from being lost to being transformed by the blood, then falls back down to a state of reflection for the final moments of the song. This holiday season, take the time to pause and think of the simple fact that Jesus loves you so much, that He sacrificed everything for your life to be saved. When life inevitably gets hectic, remember these lyrics: “There is nothing stronger / Than the wonder-working power of the blood / That calls us sons and daughters / We are ransomed by the Father through the blood.”

“I Thank God” by Maverick City and UPPERROOM is an uplifting song, thanking God for helping us find stability. There is a difference in sound between this song and what we have heard from Maverick City in 2022. The upbeat, acoustic feel will have you reminiscing on the summertime.

“Goodness of God” by Bethel Music is a song that you’ve probably heard a million times by now, but it’s one I never get tired of. It’s always great to look back on all that God has done for us and be able to say, “I have lived in the goodness of God.”
