Micah Trimmer reviews Phones and Ferb The Movie, Muppets Now and High Score.Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace vs. the Universe
Rating: TV-G
Service: Disney +
After eight long years, the brothers of summer are back alongside the rest of the Danville gang. While Candace tries over and over to bring her brothers to sweet parental justice, things seem to never go her way. In a world where her brothers create robots, theme parks and time travel, why not be abducted by aliens too?
Revival movies can be very easy to get wrong. However, much like “Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus,” “Candace vs. the Universe” is a fantastic film that avoids common pitfalls. Like the beloved series, returning actors, characters and classic “Phineas and Ferb” humor all make a triumphant return and none of it feels disingenuous. As with the show, there is a sincere and heart-filled message underneath all of the fun and colorful exterior. The movie is also very accessible; new viewers can watch the film without ever having seen an episode of the TV show and still have a great time. (Although I would personally recommend doing so.) If you need a lighthearted and hilarious movie to round out the year, I’d suggest you give “Candace vs. the Universe” a try.

Muppets Now
Rating: TV-PG
Service: Disney +
The Muppets return to a serialized format in Disney’s “Muppets Now.” As the lovable creatures try to modernize their show to reach a new demographic, manic mishaps and zany antics ensue. The show retains some of the characters’ classic charm, however, the comedy falls flat and the pacing is flawed.
