Never in my life did I expect to enjoy a show quite like this. The show introduces Lunella Lafayette, a 13-year-old genius who loves living in the Lower East Side (LES) in Manhattan. After a series of blackouts spur Lunella to decipher the blueprints of a mysterious scientist, she finds herself a part of the new dynamic duo, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. With a fun animation style full of bold lines and vibrant colors, alongside a surprisingly good soundtrack, the show is a blast to watch. The show revolves around Lunella (and the audience) learning life lessons via her superhero outings each episode. Central to Lunella’s story is the Lower East Side community. It’s her motivation to solve issues and the people that support her. Part of the reason that she became a hero was because none of the Avengers pay the Lower East Side any attention. Romans 12:16 (NIV) says, “Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.” As Christians, it is important for us to take care of each other and those around us. It doesn’t matter where they are from or how much money they have. We are called to share the love of God with all we meet.
