One of the biggest complaints I’ve heard recently about modern worship music is that it’s too focused on us as individuals and not focused on glorifying God. Because of this, I’m always on the search for songs that are meant to give God glory simply for who He is. The song “flowers dressed in blue” by Strings and Heart easily fits into this category. Although the lyrics are simple and repetitive in nature, they do a wonderful job of expressing a sense of awe for God’s creation. “I see flowers dressed in blue / painted skies, proof enough it’s you.”

Often, it’s easy for us to overlook the beauty of all that God has made. It can also be easy to forget the significance of Jesus’ death on the cross and God’s grace toward us. This song, however, puts an emphasis on the nature of praise we should all hold in our hearts. Musically, “flowers dressed in blue” is fun and unique amongst other songs in the Christian music genre. It leans toward a rock style and is complete with an electric guitar solo. It’s almost impossible to listen to this song and be in a bad mood. God is too good to us!

As a Christian, it’s easy to fall into the habit of pretending we have it all together. “I’d Be Lying” by ONE HOUSE, Sondae and Mitch Wong is about the reality that we need God for whatever we are doing in life. “I look up to the sky, I know my help comes only from You, Lord.”

“What a beautiful thing to know all of my days are written in your scroll.” This song reflects on the transformation that happens in us when we decide to live our lives for Christ. Simple, straightforward and beautiful—it’s the perfect song to play during your personal reflection/devotional time.
