According to a 2019 survey, nearly 79 percent of Gen Z reported feeling lonely. With a global pandemic, it’s easy to feel lonely; you’re not alone in your feelings. Peer asked a few pals the question, “If you’re feeling lonely, what makes you feel better?”

1. Call a friend or family.
Without a doubt, call or text someone you know. FaceTime, text, call, group chat—whatever it is! Send memes or Tik Toks to your friends and discuss them.

2. Read one of your favorite books.
Pick up that book that you’ve been meaning to read, re-read a book from your childhood or visit the library.

3. Watch a comfort TV show.
Most of the time, this is our go-to. Turn on a show that brings you genuine joy. Watch a comforting TV show with your “TV family.”

4. Listen to music or a podcast.
Crank up your favorite playlist and dance in your room alone (no one is judging you!). Go ahead and turn on a podcast and clean your room.

5. Play with your pet.
Give your pet some attention! Snuggle your pet, play with your pet, talk to your pet. Pets are your friend and they always want your attention.

6. Cry.
Don’t be afraid to cry. It’s healthy! The Lord hears our cries. Read Psalms 4, 42, 86, 102 and 142 to start.

7. Talk to a Trusted Adult or Counselor.
Having conversations with important people and opening up to them can help you receive validation that you are not alone.
