Why is it important to pray every day?
Ask an officer anything. An officer in The Salvation Army is an ordained minister of Christian faith. Before delving into why it’s essential to pray daily, let’s first understand why we pray in the first place. Prayer serves as a means of connection, guidance and intercession. Just how we would nurture any relationship, regular communication helps strengthen our bond with God. As we consistently make time for prayer, we deepen our connection with Him. Through this connection, we gain insight into God’s desires and values, which in turn helps us navigate our lives more effectively.
Prayer also provides an avenue for interceding for others. When we pray, God hears our petitions, and as we grow closer to Him, we develop a heart for others’ needs. Therefore, praying for others becomes a natural outflow of our relationship with God.
Ultimately, praying daily is crucial because it keeps us connected to God. It fosters intimacy with Him and enables us to align our lives with His will.

I have no idea what I want to do with my life after college. How do people figure it out?
When graduation creeps closer and closer, there’s a lot of pressure to know exactly what you want to do for the rest of your life. The good news is that you don’t have to! Life is full of twists and turns. Even people who seem to have it all figured out will eventually hit a fork in the road and adjust their plans. With that in mind, consider what you enjoy doing, what challenges you and what inspires you. Focusing on these things will help narrow your focus. Seek out wise counsel from someone who has finished college or reach out to a career services counselor at your school.
Most importantly, start praying! God loves you and is concerned for your future. He is ready to guide you and wants to be a part of the process. Ask God to give you inspiration and direction. Then, get ready to listen to where He leads.
And remember it’s okay to make a wrong turn! If you try something new and it’s not your vibe, it’s okay to change your mind. Sometimes, we need the wrong turns to get us to the right path! Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV) says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” When we invite God to be a part of the journey, He makes sure we’re going the right direction, no matter how many twists and turns there might be!
