It’s got to be a hard life with a last name like failure. Total Failure Inc. is the detective agency of oddball fifth grader Timmy Failure and his lazy polar bear associate Total, who together stake out the streets of Portland searching for their next earth-shattering case. While the film was made for the streaming service Disney+, the quality of filmmaking reflects the more theatrical releases of Disney’s live-action endeavors with an impressive performance by Winslow Fegley. Personally, I did not enjoy the film. I found the character of Timmy to be unlikable. I actually found myself rooting against him for the majority of the film. The film promotes the message of being one’s unique self, despite what others think. However, when a person has character traits that negatively affects everyone else around them, something has to change. Not every quirky personality trait is beneficial or healthy. Sometimes, encouraging people not to change is the worst thing for them and the people close to them. However, the humor is conveyed well, the characters are played perfectly and overall, the movie is a solid experience that should be an entertaining watch for families and individuals alike.
