Shoes: an intersection of function, practicality and fashion. Due to their necessity, they often have a short shelf life. So, if you’re like me, you’re always looking for a quality + affordable + trendy yet timeless look. It’s a formula that doesn’t always have an easy answer, but with persistence and enthusiasm, there is hope. First stop—the thrift store!

We donate shoes for many reasons:

  1. they didn’t quite fit right
  2. we’re not wearing them as much as we thought we would, and
  3. we wore them out.

Thankfully, our Salvation Army thrift store employees are trained to put out the best-of-the-best, so typically, you should only encounter shoes from the 1) & 2) categories. Just walk the aisles and you can find top name brands in fabulous condition. I was excited to find these metallic gold flats by J. Crew—perfect for the Christmas season! Check out these Tommy Hilfiger men’s lace-up boots. Timeless + trendy + mint condition = jackpot thrift store find. I think a sneakerhead needed to downsize their inventory, because these Adidas Samoas are literally like new. The kicks are plentiful at the thrift!
