Hunter, Tech, Wrecker, Echo and Omega return with new adventures in the second season of “The Bad Batch.” After the destruction of their home, Clone Force 99 continues to find themselves scraping by on freelance jobs while hiding from an empire that believes them to be dead. The question remains, “What if they could be doing more?” Honestly, I’m not sure what else I can say about the Filoni-animated Star Wars shows; great animation, solid writing, fun stories—all of it is still here. There is a decent amount of “filler” so to speak, but I still found the episodes to be enjoyable. The group is finding themselves in an increasingly hostile galaxy, with people and places formerly friendly being completely the opposite. I think we can all relate; values held by Christians that were once accepted are now being shunned. Wrong is being called right, sin is praised while righteousness is spurned, truth is scorned, everything seems to be unraveling before our eyes. It’s easy to lose heart and feel like there’s no hope left.
In John 16:33, Jesus said, “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” Too often I lose sight of the hope that I have in Christ. Yes, the world may be getting worse by the day, but we have a God that has already defeated it.
