“Spider-Man: No Way Home”
Micah Trimmer reviews Spider-Man: No Way Home, Encanto, and Foodtastic. The third installment in the highly-anticipated “Spider-Man” films.
Rating: PG-13 for sequences of action/violence, some language and brief suggestive comments.
Tom Holland, Zendaya and an all-star cast bring their A-game to “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” In the aftermath of Avengers Endgame, Peter Parker and his friends are looking forward to college. However, with the repercussions of the Mysterio debacle hanging over his head, Peter turns to mystical forces and inadvertently comes face to face with a multiverse threat. This movie is a visual treat for any “Spider-Man” fan. Would I say it’s the best “Spider-Man” film? No. Is it fun? Absolutely. The film is a blast to watch. Responsibility has always been at the center of the “Spider-Man” story and it’s hard to take responsibility for our mistakes, and the damage done can’t be taken back. Even with the best of intentions, we can break something in our attempts to fix it. Galatians 6:7-8 (NIV) warns, “ Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.” After all, with great power, comes great responsibility, so take care to live a life worthy of the One who called you.
Encanto
Rating: PG
Platform: Disney+
Family can be quite the complex dynamic; add a magic house, musical numbers and superpowers, and you’ve got yourself “Encanto.” In contrast to Disney’s recent animated outings, the film takes a much smaller scale approach, focusing more on the story of the Madrigal family rather than a grand quest.
Foodtastic
Rating: TV-G
Platform: Disney+
Different Disney properties get tasty visual representations in “Foodtastic.” While it’s not my favorite food-centric program, it is cool to get away from the typical baking and dessert competitions. It’s not the most refined show, but if you are a fan of Disney and food, then give it a try.
