This new Disney+ exclusive docuseries provides a fun and informative look into the unassuming props of some of the most timeless movies ever created. I’ve had a lot of fun watching “Prop Culture.” Getting to watch and learn about the props (often an overlooked yet incredibly important part of filmmaking) in many of the movies I grew up with was fascinating and gave me an even greater appreciation for them. While the show is nothing too impressive on the technical side of things, the pure excitement and love of filmmaking bleeds through almost every moment of the show. One of my favorite aspects of this show is when people involved with the creation of a film are reunited with a prop that they worked with. The stories and lessons these people tell allow the viewer to see another side of not only the prop, but the people and the creative process as a whole. An insignificant object can have a profound effect on multitudes of people. Funnily enough, a correlation could be made as to how God will work through our lives. So, whether you are a Disney fanatic or a casual moviegoer, “Prop Culture” comes highly recommended.

Be Our Chef

Rating: TV-G
Service: Disney+

A kooky cooking competition unlike most others, “Be Our Chef” pits five fun-loving families against each other in Disney-themed culinary challenges. While not a completely original idea, the show’s cumulative victories format (rather than single elimination) is a refreshing twist on the otherwise tried-and-true cooking competition genre.
