I know I am saved because God promised that I would be if I believe with my whole heart and soul—and God keeps His promises. In the Old Testament, there are many examples of God making a promise and keeping them. God’s biggest promise, the promise of a Messiah, is promised in the Old Testament and realized in the New Testament. In short, if you believe that Jesus died to save you from your sins, then you are saved. When the doubt starts to creep, lean on the truth that is Jesus. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9, NIV).
