“The Chosen” is a worldwide phenomenon depicting the story of Jesus in a dramatic way. The show has reached thousands—if not millions of people—with surprising quality and production value rarely seen in Christian films. However, this is a review of the documentary, “Unfiltered: Gen-Z Reacts to The Chosen.” This documentary follows nine members of Gen Z as they experience “The Chosen” for the first time. I’m cautious about reactionary content, which is often faked or altered due to a company’s narrative, but I don’t think this is the case with “Unfiltered.” Yes, we don’t know everything that was said or done but the point was to find out what people think about the show. Each participant has a different background and brings their own unique experience to the table and while not everyone gets the same amount of screen time, what they share seems genuine enough. They don’t delve too deeply into theology and most of the responses are emotional, so keep this in mind when you watch this. Everyone needs to decide where they stand with Jesus on their own. We are called to reach and teach, but at the end of the day, we can’t save their souls. Jesus has used many things to draw people to Himself, from fish breaking a net to knocking a man off his donkey. I don’t know if any of the participants have been saved, but I do know that God can work through anything, even a TV show.
