Finding Unity and Strength in “Moana 2”
"The main conflict comes from the villain Nalo’s desire to keep the island people separated from each other, but with unity comes strength."Rating: PG | Platform: Disney+
Years after her mission to restore the heart of Tefiti, Moana receives a new objective: to save and reunite all people of the ocean. While I didn’t find this sequel to be on par with the original, I thought that “Moana 2” was solid enough. The animation is strong but not groundbreaking, the songs are competent—with the highlight being “Get Lost” by Awhimai Fraser—and returning cast members Auli‘i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson fit seamlessly back into their roles. The film mainly struggles with uneven pacing and side characters that seem inconsequential. The main conflict comes from the villain Nalo’s desire to keep the island people separated from each other, but with unity comes strength. We understand this from Scripture. While there are many denominations, when we are unified by the love of Christ and sound doctrine, there is so much that can be accomplished. As He prayed in the garden, Jesus asked the Father on behalf of all believers: “I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me” (John 17:21).

Set in the world of “Inside Out,” “Dream Productions” follows a once great director as she tries to save her career and provide the next big hit. Other than slightly censored dialogue from a unicorn, this parody of show business was a decent and fun short series that doesn’t overstay its welcome.

Finding themselves lost in a dangerous galaxy, four children raised in isolation race to return home in an ancient pirate ship. I found the show to be fun and lighthearted. This entry into the classic franchise incorporates Disney’s modern finishes.
