The story centers on a group of friends attending high school and how their lives are intertwined and impacted by social media. Vanessa, the main character, (or rather “V” as she is referred to by her best friend, Brooklyn) soon realizes that she is being followed online by someone she doesn’t really know. She is determined to get to the truth of who this person is. Some of her friends support her inquisitiveness but others shrug her off, thinking she is just too dramatic. V must decide on her own if she’ll trust her intuition to find out more about this person or go with the crowd, who are beginning to dig this new follower of hers.

Realistic as this book is, this plotline is common among teenagers. Oftentimes, teens find themselves in situations at school when they must decide if they are going to follow their peers or venture on their own and do what they think matters. Reading how this character arrives at her decision adds a further dimension to this dilemma.

As the drama unfolds, the reader will better understand how you should safeguard your identity online and learn several social media posting tips within the story.

The pace of the story is easy to keep up with. The author builds intrigue and as the reader, you want to find out how the story will end. Included as a bonus to the story is a discussion guide for groups to further explore the topics brought up in the book. As you’re reading, not only will you be entertained but you’ll also be informed! As the drama unfolds, the reader will better understand how you should safeguard your identity online and learn several social media posting tips within the story. One great example is #THINK—when considering posting something online, only post if it is True, Helpful, Inspiring, Necessary and Kind.
