Here are seven tips for staying sane during exam season.
1. Make a plan and get organized
Create a schedule for the weeks leading up to the exam—and be realistic about it. Avoid the temptation to cram all of your studying in on the night before the exam.
2. Put away the temptations
What are your biggest distractions? Turn off phone notifications, turn on silent mode or take a social media break so you aren’t reaching for your phone constantly. Is your dorm room too loud? Invest in some decent headphones or find a quiet place to study.
3. Change up your environment
Finding it hard to concentrate? Try finding a different place to study. The library, a coffee shop, a local park, even your porch. Think outside the box!
4. Sleep
You might be tempted to stay up all night cramming but your body and brain needs a recharge; get at least 7-8 hours a night.
5. Eat right and exercise
Humans weren’t made to subsist on Red Bull and Hot Cheetos. Eat fruits and veggies, especially those high in fiber. These will help you feel full longer and will fuel your brain. Find some time to move your body, whether it’s a quick lap around your dorm or block or a five-minute stretch break.
6. Put together an exam day kit
Pack your backpack with your charger, brain-boosting snacks, water bottle and favorite pen. Pack it the night before!
7. Pray About It
Why not ask God to help you? He already cares and wants your best. Pray for a clear mind and that you’ll remember all of the information you’ve learned.
