Take a walk outside

Social media can be great for connecting with friends and family online, but too much scrolling can lead to anxiety and lower self-esteem. Although it can be hard to stop scrolling on your phone just like that, here are six things you can do.

1. Take a walk outside.

You don’t have to go out today and find a hiking trail or climb the nearest mountain. Take a walk around your neighborhood, visit a park and host a picnic or walk around town. Find a friend to take a walk with you.

2. Start journaling.

You already know that journaling is good for your mental health. Start a new, fresh page in your journal for whatever you desire—your dreams, your goals, your plans for the future. Make a vision board (in your journal!), print and cut out pictures or set up a bullet journal to track moods, habits, goals, etc.

3. Clean your space.

Are you living in a mess? Look at your surroundings. Clean your space! Put on a fun, new podcast and start cleaning your space. A clean space will lead to a productive and healthy mindset.

4. Read a new book.

Reading has so many benefits, including improving your reading comprehension and critical thinking skills. It also allows you to get out of your own head and into another world. Pick a book off your pile of books or visit the local library.

5. Cook something new.

Try a new recipe. Find a recipe on Pinterest, YouTube or TikTok and shop for the ingredients at your local farmer’s market or grocery store. Shop for only those ingredients and see what you come up with. You may even unlock a hidden talent.

6. Start a side hustle or passion project.

Teens and young adults are starting side hustles more than ever nowadays. Do you have a hobby that you want to turn into a side hustle? Do you love photography? Start taking photos around your town. Do you like writing? Start freelance writing.
