How Do I Grow in Faith When the People Closest to Me Aren’t Supportive of Religion?
Through His strength, you got this!Hello Friend, I know that it can feel lonely when those closest to you do not know Jesus the way you do. However, that does not mean they never will. Oftentimes, people may not be supportive if their introduction to religion is through people who may not be the best representatives of the Christian faith. Seeing your love for Jesus, and how that love extends to loving those around you, can be a witness to them. If you feel like these relationships are pulling you away from God, eventually, you may have to protect yourself so that you can grow stronger in your faith. This may come in the form of boundaries and clearly communicating to those closest to you that your relationship with Jesus is most important to you.
- These are a few ways a person can grow in faith.
- Spending time and being intentional in setting aside time to studying God’s word.
- Believing in God’s Promises and following His will.
- Finding a church (corps) where you feel welcomed.
- Joining a small group, Bible study or other activity with others who have a strong relationship with Jesus.
By these ways, you can find friends who you can learn from, share what you are studying and who can hold you accountable, as you do for them. The amazing thing about being a Christ follower is that we are called into an intimate relationship with God. A community with other believers and to be a witness to those who don’t believe. The key is to continually seek God, and as you do, He will strengthen you. You will be able to stand firm in any circumstance (See Psalm 105:4). I believe in you friend! Through His strength, you got this! Cheering you on!
