Kiff and her best friend Barry Buns have a grand ole time being middle schoolers in Disney’s “Kiff.” It has been tiring trying to find new Disney content, so finding “Kiff” to be a return to simple entertainment has been refreshing. While its humor and tone gears definitely toward the younger side, there are still plenty of funny and jovial moments that anyone of any age can enjoy. One minute, they’re trying to get into a fancy birthday party and the next they’re teaming up with one of their teachers to stop an annoyingly destructive quintet of pigeons. It’s wacky and zany without coming across as annoying.
Central to the show is the friendship between Kiff and Barry. Friendship is an important part of human life, so much so that we see plenty of examples of great friends in Scripture. David and Jonathan, Jesus and His disciples, Naomi and Ruth and Paul and Barnabas are just a few examples. The wisest king of Israel wrote, “A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need” (Proverbs 17:17). Friends are there for the good times and the bad. Great friends will hold you accountable and call you out when necessary. May we strive not only to be good friends with others, but also with our Lord God.
