Work at Camp

The Salvation Army operates 42 residential summer camps and hundreds of day camps across the country. Each year, children and senior citizens enjoy the fresh air, exercise and new friendships at these annual summer camp programs. All summer camps present the opportunity for campers to know Jesus Christ personally, setting Christian principles as the foundation for this camping ministry.

The Salvation Army hires summer staff to work as counselors, nurses, lifeguards, arts and crafts directors and much more! Working at a camp is an opportunity for a meaningful summer where you can make a difference in the lives of campers, while creating new friendships and memories.

“I have been in Salvation Army camping ministry for 23 years! I’m proud to be affiliated with Salvation Army camping because we offer high quality Christian programming, amazing staff and a message of hope that will impact their eternity! Camp Wonderland (Massachusetts) gives over 1,200 kids—who otherwise may not be able to attend an overnight camp due to the financial burden—the opportunity to experience camp, to meet new friends, to try something new, to be challenged and to experience acceptance and love. When you open up the world of camp to a child, it can change everything! I came to Camp Wonderland at the age of six, from similar circumstances to kids who attend our camp today. I experienced love, began my relationship with Jesus, and my eyes were opened to see beyond my current circumstances, that I had no control over, to a future that was full of possibility.”

“At Camp Ladore (Pennsylvania) I found myself in my faith. When I first came to camp, I was looking for God through other people, but at camp I was able to experience God for myself.”
