10 years after “Revenge of the Sith,” Obi-Wan Kenobi finds himself broken yet resolute on the desert planet Tatooine. But when a figure from his past needs help, the Jedi Master finds himself once again in the middle of the action. Let me make something very clear: Obi-Wan Kenobi is my favorite character in “Star Wars” and I grew up with the prequel films, so seeing Ewan McGregor back in the role had me excited. The series is very fun to watch with plenty of awesome performances from returning actors and some endearing newcomers. Most of the set pieces and designs are great and the effects are good for a streaming program. The show isn’t perfect and as a Star Wars Lore nerd, I do have some major issues with it; costumes and makeup can look a bit cheap, some story elements are head scratching and the writing for some of the characters is cringe-inducing at its worst. That said, I believe that Obi-Wan as portrayed in “Kenobi” can be extremely relatable, especially to people that have lived through the past few years. What if, by going through these things, we rise up stronger? Remember Paul’s words: “Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us” (Romans 5:3-5).
