6 Tips for Staying Positive
Sometimes, we find ourselves in a negative headspace with a pessimistic mindset. While hard to break that cycle, it’s necessary and studies show that having a positive mindset is better for you both physically and mentally, but also spiritually.1. Develop an attitude of gratitude.
Find creative ways to record what you’re thankful for. Start a journal, post photos of what you’re thankful of on social media or create a vision board to display photos or word art.
2. Look at your friend group.
Have you ever been around negative people and seen how their attitude can just destroy the vibe? Surround yourself with positive people. Or, better yet, instead of ditching your friends who might be struggling with this, challenge each other and hold each other accountable to develop healthy positive mindsets.
3. Practice positive self-talk.
Negative thoughts can alter your brain, making it harder to retain memories and cognitive function. Practice thinking about yourself positively. What are you good at? What are things you like about yourself?
4. Find your passions.
What do you love to do? Doing things you love will give you an automatic mood boost! Learn a new hobby. Passionate for a cause? Volunteer with an organization that shares similar values and passions.
5. Listen to music.
A good hype song can put you in a good mood. Create playlists of positive, upbeat music that helps cultivate that positive mindset.
6. Identify the Good.
Sometimes we think that every aspect of our lives is terrible, but if we look hard enough, we can find something good. What was the last thing that made you smile? What is going well in your life? Where do you see good in the world around you? Challenge yourself to find the good!
