Meet Mallory
Born to Salvationist parents and officer grandparents, Mallory has been surrounded by the ministry of The Salvation Army.At 7 years old, Mallory and her family moved to Echo Grove Camp in Leonard, MI. This move eventually molded how she engages with ministry. Living at camp was a highlight for Mallory because it exposed her to people from all over Michigan, summer staff from around the world, and different ministry opportunities. While living at camp, Mallory developed a deeper understanding of God and His people. Seeing kids come to Jesus summer after summer showed her the transformational power of Jesus.
Eventually, Mallory started engaging in ministry. Her first role at camp was lifeguard, which gave her intentional interaction with campers and other staff members. Mallory got to engage with campers in an environment that they loved: the pool! She loved connecting with kids in a safe and fun place.
After years of serving at camp, Mallory spent a year in Hawaii being discipled through Revolution Hawaii. Through that year in community, her faith became her own. “Living at home,” Mallory said, “your faith is your parents’, so leaving and disconnecting from my family for a year helped me grow as a person in my own faith, and in my relationship with God.”
RevHi put a desire in Mallory to serve people more intentionally. That year of service led Mallory to apply for Service Corps in the Western Territory where she ministered to people in California, Nevada, Arizona, and New Mexico. During her time out west, Mallory loved visiting different communities, and seeing how they interacted with each other and those they serve. Mallory has since served on overseas missions teams, taking what she learned and building on it.
In all of Mallory’s exposure to people around the world, she was reminded that God always provides. While in Kenya, the people there had prayed for over 10 years for God to provide the needed repairs to one of the corps (church) buildings. Her team was the delivery of God’s promise they had been waiting on.
This past summer, Mallory has returned to Hawaii, the place where she connected the deepest with God. She worked at Camp Homelani, witnessing Christ encounters at camp. Although time at camp is often short, the impact is life changing, and she can’t wait to see what God will do.
