How to Make the Most of Back-to-School Season
Whether you’re eager for the year to come or feeling anxious, having a little guidance can make a world of a difference. It’s no secret that the back-to-school season is a time of mixed emotions. The prospect of a new year, new opportunities and new challenges is both exciting and overwhelming. Whether you’re eager for the year to come or feeling anxious, having a little guidance can make a world of a difference. So, how can you make the most of this time?
1. Expand your circle.
Reach out to someone new this year! Greet peers in the hallway, sit with a different group at lunch or set up a study date with a classmate you haven’t spoken to before. You never know what new friendships could blossom from a simple “Hello.”
2. Express yourself.
In between studies and assignments, make time to do something creative. This could be journaling, painting, knitting or anything that gives you an artistic outlet.
3. Set a (realistic) goal.
The more prepared you are, the more likely you are to succeed. Identify a handful of specific milestones you want to reach this year, and break them down into manageable steps.
4. Take care of you.
Don’t neglect yourself. Practice stress management techniques, nurture your body through movement and proper nutrition and make sure to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep each night so you can function at your best!
5. Out with the old.
Identify a habit from last school year that didn’t work well for you. Did you procrastinate? Did you not ask your teacher for help when you needed it? Figure out one element of your status quo that is holding you back so you can break free and form a new, healthier pattern this year.
6. Stay positive.
Attitude is everything. If you dive into this year looking for positivity, you will certainly find it. Even when challenges arise, you can trust that God has your back.
