Noah Kahan, a Breakout Artist

If there’s an artist who has made a breakthrough in the last year, it’s Noah Kahan. You might have heard his hit song “Hurt Somebody,” featuring Julia Michaels, on his album he released in 2019. Since then, unless you’re a fan of his, you probably haven’t heard much. That is, until his song “Stick Season” came out last year. I don’t know about you, but this song was all over my TikTok FYP when it first came out.

The album that followed, also named “Stick Season,” was a wonderful glimpse of the growth in Noah Kahan’s career that has occurred in just a couple of years. His songwriting is powerful, as he is an artist who can capture specific aspects of our human experience. His voice is both gentle and  strong enough to capture a wide range of emotions, adding to his already moving songwriting skills. One of my favorite aspects of his music is his use of a folk guitar sound, bringing a sense of familiarity and warmth to his music. If you’re looking for something to get you out of summer and ready for fall, his music should be at the top of your list.

Wake Up - Josh Gilligan

“Brick by Brick” is in the singer/songwriter genre of music, but definitely leans more country. The lyrics focus on finding freedom in love, as opposed to the prison of pain. Although not specifically a Christian song, the message is especially relevant for those who know the love of Jesus.

If you’re looking for a song that can instantly put you in a happy mood, I’d recommend “Wake Up” by Josh Gilligan featuring girlpuppy. The song’s message is all about the positive feelings we have in the seemingly mundane moments of life, and our desire to feel them over and over again.
