Ed Sheeran

January is a time for newness in many ways. Many of us get excited about a new year and all the possibilities it could bring, especially if we are anticipating big changes. At the end of 2021, some well-known artists gave us new music about transitioning into a new season of life. Ed Sheeran, for example, released his fourth album, “=”, at the end of October. This album shows a new side of the singer, giving the listener an inside look on his transition to his 30s, becoming a dad, handling loss and the balance of marriage. You might have a certain expectation about Ed Sheeran’s music, but in my opinion, this album takes a course that you wouldn’t expect. If you know Sheeran for his acoustic love songs that you hear at every wedding, you might be surprised at the amount of upbeat dance music on the new album. Rest assured, romantics, there are still a couple of songs that are bound to make you shed a tear or two. According to Sheeran, the best way to listen to this album is in order (at least for the first time). Have you given it a listen yet?

Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys closed last year with her album, “KEYS.” The first track I listened to, “Best of Me,” has two versions with different production styles. One is the chill, classic sound you might be used to. The other is a new introduction to this artist!

Adele

Another well-known artist, Adele, came out of the shadows to drop her fourth album, “30.” Adele has a special way of conveying even the toughest emotions through her songs. If you’ve been missing her smooth, soulful voice, or just need a moment in your feelings, give this album a shot.
