How Can I Share My Faith Authentically With Those Around Me?

"When people witness how deeply He impacts your life, they’ll be drawn in to know more."

Think of asking this same question but change the topic to another passion of yours. If you love football, ask yourself how you would share your love for football with those around you? This  may be an easier question to answer. Without saying a word, people would see your love for football in the way you dress, the priority you place on when you are watching games, and your unwillingness to tolerate things that are anti-football. Additionally, football would come up naturally in your conversations because it excites you. Your passion would be contagious, making others want to experience the joy it brings you.

Now, switch the topic back to faith. If Jesus is truly the foundation of your life, your love for Him will be just as evident. People will notice the way you prioritize time with Him, the way His truth shapes your decisions, and how His presence brings you joy even in difficult times. You won’t have to force faith into conversations—it will overflow naturally because He is central to your life. Sharing your faith authentically isn’t about pushing an agenda; it’s about letting others see the hope, peace, and joy you’ve found in Christ. When people witness how deeply He impacts your life, they’ll be drawn in to know more.

What are practical ways to practice a Sabbath, or day of rest, during the week?

As an officer (pastor), it seems like we are on 24/7 and struggle to get a break. But that is why having and maintaining a Sabbath is so important for my spiritual and emotional well-being. I have not always maintained a Sabbath in my years, which I regret, but as I get older and have been an officer for a while, it is imperative to keep a Sabbath. I take Fridays off since most Saturdays, and of course Sundays, include activities. My staff and my congregation know that Fridays are my Sabbath; they do not reach out unless it is an emergency. I spend my time listening to books on tape, podcasts, devotions, and sermons. I spend time preparing for the message on Sunday, and I make it a point to have time set aside to clean my house. I have blocked off this day so that I can rest. My spirit can rest, and my physical well-being can rest, so I am ready to be of service to the Lord and my people for the next week.

If you do not have a Sabbath, I highly recommend making sure you set aside time for one. From someone who used to not have one, I am so grateful that I have this time set aside to spend with the Lord preparing myself for what’s to come.
