I struggle with resting when there are so many things to do. How can I rest and not feel guilty?

You are not alone in your struggle of feeling guilty when you take time to rest. As an officer (pastor), a wife, and a busy mom of four children, I understand there is always something more that can be done at the end of each day.

One of the passages in the Bible which speaks about rest is found in Matthew 11:28-30. This verse reminds us rest is not only physical, but also spiritual. It is an invitation from Jesus to find solace and refreshment in Him.

When we make time for rest, we acknowledge our dependence on God and recognize He is the source of our strength and accomplishments. We put our trust in His ability to sustain us and provide for our needs. To overcome feelings of guilt associated with resting, it is so important to remember rest is not a sign of weakness or laziness. It is a gift from God that allows us to holistically care for ourselves.

Embrace rest, trusting that it contributes to your ability to fulfill your responsibilities more effectively and with a renewed perspective.
