6 Fun Things To Do Outside This Summer

1. Host a picnic.

Whether in your backyard or in a public park, a picnic is a fun activity to do with friends—or yourself! Each friend can bring their own plate to share or if you’re an aspiring chef, you can cook for all your friends. If you’re by yourself, make a delicious plate of food.

2. Build a drive-in theater in the backyard.

If you have a backyard, you can set up a makeshift drive-in right there in the yard. Projectors can cost approximately $30. Grab an old white fitted sheet from the linen closet and string it up on the side of the house or tall fence. Throw old blankets or chairs on the ground for seating and you have a makeshift drive-in!

3. Tie-dye shirts.

Want a cool design on a t-shirt? Do you have an itch to start any DIY projects? Go to your dresser drawer, pull out an old t-shirt and get to work tie-dyeing with fun colors. These kits are sold at craft stores.

4. Watch the sunset.

Visit a local park or do this from your backyard or front porch. Look up from your phone and capture the beauty of God’s creation around you.

5. Take a bike ride.

Do you have a bike sitting in your living space, collecting dust? Reach for it this summer and go on a bike ride! Ride your bike around the neighborhood. Be safe and wear a helmet!

6. Visit the library.

The warm and sunny days are great, but summer also brings rainy days. When it’s raining, check out your local library! You can check out books, movies, audiobooks, magazines and newspapers—all for free! It’s also a fun place to enjoy a quiet and rainy afternoon.
