Apple Music’s “New in Christian” Playlist

One of my favorite playlists to listen to has been Apple Music’s “New in Christian” playlist. The playlist includes over six hours of the newest Christian music. In contrast  the “Today’s Christian” playlist or “Worship Today” playlist, it primarily features more pop and hip-hop sounds, and doesn’t include many songs that we would hear in communal worship sets. This playlist focuses on dedicated artists who make music similar  to what is culturally popular; however, their messages and lyrics are centered on God and biblical truths. Listeners can have access to the genre they enjoy, while not having to worry about topics that might pull them away from what is beneficial and life-giving to us as believers.

Some recently popular artists you may find on this playlist include Forrest Frank, Jervis Campbell, Josiah Queen, and Torey D’Shaun. You may also find some well-established Christian artists such as Lauren Daigle, Chris Tomlin, and MercyMe. The great thing about this playlist is that it is updated weekly, meaning there will always be fresh songs, artists, and styles to listen to.

In August, Josiah Queen released his second album, “Mt. Zion.” The very first song, “Yesterday is Dead,” energetically reminds us of the fact that we are made new in Jesus. We can keep our eyes on what is ahead because “today is a new day, yesterday is dead.”

On MUCH MORE’s third album, “Born Again, Again,” you can find “Ruins,” a song which invites the Holy Spirit to build us up from nothing to God’s brand new creation. Don’t let the relaxed nature of this song fool you, it’s one that’s sure to get stuck in your head!
