1. “Camp Rock”

“I’m Shane Gray for crying out loud.” Joe Jonas’s character delivered this line towards his two brothers, who play members of a popular boy band in the Disney Channel Original Movie, “Camp Rock,” as his character was arriving upon camp. This movie, set at a music camp, stars well-known actors from Disney Channel and features an upbeat soundtrack to rock out to.

2. “A Week Away”

A fun, faith-based musical film on Netflix that isn’t too cheesy, “A Week Away” features a troubled teenager who takes a leap of faith by attending summer camp, where he finds love, friends, and a place to belong. The movie reminds us that summer camp focuses on belonging and forming new friendships.  

3. “The Parent Trap”

While the movie doesn’t focus wholly on camp, twins Hallie and Annie (both played by Lindsay Lohan) meet for the first time at a summer camp and discover they are twins and were separated at birth. Chaos ensues, beginning at camp, as they begin as rivals immediately after discovering they’re twins. 

4. “Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning ThieF”

Fans of the book series can watch the film and TV show adaptation, in which sons and daughters of the mythological Greek gods and goddesses gather at a camp, or training ground, to train and play. 

5. “Addams Family Values”

Like “The Parent Trap,” this doesn’t exclusively take place at camp, but the camp scenes are fun and engaging nonetheless. Siblings Wednesday and Pugsley are sent to Camp Chippewa, where they are singled out by the counselors and other campers for their extravagant dress and behavior. Watch for fun camp chaos.
