Walk A Mile In These Shoes
Shoes anywhere else are typically not so cheap, so use this as your opportunity to try new things and explore the fun of different shoes with your outfits!Picking the right pair of shoes is no joke. You have to walk around a lot, so you want them to be comfortable and cute! Finding the shoe section in a thrift store is never a hard task. It is so, so common to find a slightly worn yet cool pair of shoes at most thrift stores.
When looking for shoes, you obviously want to start with the shoes in your size! Do not be hesitant to pick out a pair that might be a little dirty—cleaning shoes at home is so easy!
*How to Clean Shoes 101:
Dirty sneakers? No problem. Here are four simple steps to clean your thrifty kicks.
- Wash them. In the washer, of course. If you don’t have access to a washer, you can grab a bucket and soak your sneaks in detergent and water.
- Scrub them. Scrub-a-dub-dub! Experts recommend a cloth or brush to wash off the dirt—after the initial wash.
- Then, let them soak in the water (or the washer). Your rockin’ kicks are going in for a deep clean, and a good strong detergent will make sure all the grime and stain is gone.
- Air dry them. This is important—do not put them in the dryer. It’s best if you leave them outside on a porch or deck. But inside works, too.
I have found some of the best pairs of shoes at thrift stores—even household name brands like New Balance and those no longer in stock. So you have yourself a unique pair to you! I like to pick out different and colorful tennis shoes that you can pair with either jeans or a dress. For guys, there are always dress shoes and slightly worn tennis shoes available as well that you can throw on even for a wedding or a small get-together that you’re attending.
