Music Review: Cochren & Co.
Damien Horne reviews music artists Cochren & Co, Mandisa, and Wande.A friend of mine sent me a song called “One Day” by the group Cochren & Co. Can’t say I knew much about this group before that, but the song “One Day” caught my attention! I love the blend of contemporary worship and gospel I feel in the production when listening to this song. The lead vocalist has a very soulful worship leader style to his approach! Melodically, it’s a song that you can sing along to like a worship song, but he also has moments where he takes some artistic liberties to showcase his range and ability! This song is a powerful piano ballad with impactful lyrics. Its lyrics discuss the belief that “One Day,” the things we deal with and struggle with will be no more. This is a song of hope and the anticipation of healing coming for those who are children of God! And when this day comes, we will all sing the highest praise of HALLELUJAH! I feel this is the perfect time to check out this song if you haven’t already. What a powerful revelation and much needed encouragement from a song in times like these!
Mandisa
The 9th place finisher on the 5th season of “American Idol” continues to defy odds! This Grammy award-winner has a worship song called “Way Maker” that is inspiring, and will have you worshiping right along with her by time the chorus hits! If you are in need of a reminder of who God is in the midst of turmoil, add “Way Maker” to your playlist!
Wande
This Nigerian-born, Texas-raised rapper has what we in the hip-hop world say, “BARZ!” I was definitely excited to discover this female hip-hop artist through her song, “I Gotta Live!” This song talks about living her life aside from distractions, and focused on kingdom work! Also, a couple of my more current favorites by her are “Bands” and “No Ceilings.”
