5 Low-Spend Activities You Can Do This Fall
"Schoolwork and extracurriculars may keep you busy, but you can still make time for fun while not breaking the budget."Looking for fun, budget-friendly things to do as the leaves start to change? The temperatures may be winding down, but your social schedule doesn’t have to. Schoolwork and extracurriculars may keep you busy, but you can still make time for fun while not breaking the budget.

1. Visit the pumpkin patch.
Not only for picking pumpkins! Some farms may have an apple orchard, corn maze, or hayride as additional things to do. The best thing about a pumpkin patch is that you can bring one home and decorate it for your space.

2. Make your own candles or recycle old ones.
Candle-making doesn’t have to be complicated! You can recycle your used ones. Candles can be expensive, so if you have a favorite one in your house that’s melted down, check out some safe and beginner-friendly tips online on how to recycle it.

3. Go to a farmers market.
Wake up one Saturday morning, put on a fun and stylish outfit, and stroll through the aisles at a farmers market. Talk with the vendors and ask about their products! Farmers markets don’t have to only be for grabbing locally grown fruits and vegetables; check out artists and their unique creations, like art and other handmade goods. Some products may even have a story.

4. Host a movie marathon.
When the days and nights grow colder, opt to stay in and watch a movie. Check out two or three movies from your local library. Maybe a weekend marathon is too long, so consider scheduling one movie a week as your “staying in and watching a movie” night.

5. Curl up with a good book.
Maybe you have a book that’s been sitting on your nightstand for months. Curl up in a comfortable chair with a warm beverage and a book. Challenge yourself to read 20 pages or see how much you read in one sitting.
