Meaning “spirit of the time,” Zeitgeist includes reviews on what’s current in movies and TV, music, books, video games, and podcasts. 

Peer Magazine is looking for passionate reviewers who can contribute timely, high-quality reviews relevant for teens and young adults and within print deadlines. 

These are paid, freelance positions. Writers are paid $0.35/word for first rights and will commit to writing through September 2027, occasionally alternating with other reviewers according to an editorial calendar.

Music Reviewer

Responsibilities:

• Once a month, write three high quality reviews of singles, EPs, artists, and albums relevant for teens and young adults 
• Meet print magazine deadlines and follow editorial guidelines 

Qualifications:

• Strong writing and analytical skills 
• Broad knowledge of music genres (including CCM) and current trends 
• Prior experience in music criticism or blogging preferred, but not required 
• Familiar with The Salvation Army 
• Ability to provide fair, constructive, and original commentary

TV/Movie Reviewer

Responsibilities:

• Once a month, write three high-quality reviews of films, television series, individual episodes or seasons relevant for teens and young adults 
• Analyze storytelling, performances, themes, and cultural relevance 
• Meet established print deadlines 
• Follow editorial guidelines and tone 

Qualifications:

• Strong writing and critical analytical skills 
• Broad knowledge of film and television across genres and formats 
• Awareness of current releases and industry trends 
• Prior experience in film/TV criticism or blogging preferred, but not required 
• Familiar with The Salvation Army 
• Ability to provide fair, constructive, and original commentary
