When listening to Christian music, I can’t help but gravitate toward live worship albums. You can hear the vulnerability in the singer’s voice, the spontaneity of the instrumentalists, and the energy from the crowd. Elevation Worship’s newest live album, “SO BE IT,” is no exception. I love the way Elevation Worship is consistently able to produce songs that are catchy enough to get stuck in your head and effectively communicate the message of the gospel. The album opens with an excited and unique song, “SO BE IT,” declaring God’s authority over death and the grave. As the album continues, you hear fun, upbeat songs like “Alleluia” and “Keep On,” as well as reflective songs, like “Jesus Be the Name” and “Thank You.” The album closes with “God I’m Just Grateful,” a song of thanks and praise for all that God continues to do for us, even when we don’t deserve it.

There are some songs that are just easy to listen to, and “Metamorphosis” by Lydi Lynn is one of them. Between her light, delicate vocals and the calmness and simplicity of the instrumentation, this song is pure relaxation. The humble lyrics are a prayer asking God for a full transformation.

The song “Do It All Alone” by the Christian folk rock worship band Rend Collective is a breath of fresh air with its positive and upbeat indie-folk sound. The lyrics remind us that even though we experience struggles in this life, we never experience them alone. This one is bound to make you want to get up and dance.
