6 Small Gestures That Your Loved Ones Will Appreciate
During the month of love, think about any small (and inexpensive) gestures to appreciate your loved ones.Love is all around. In addition to the common form of romance, love can be found in friendships, family, faith, and yourself, and shown differently based on the individuals giving and receiving it. Love can be shown both in big, grand gestures and in small, intimate actions. During the month of love, think about any small (and inexpensive) gestures to appreciate your loved ones.
1. Compliment their style.
One compliment can set off a chain reaction. Whether you’re walking the school hallways or along the sidewalk, offer a warm smile and kind compliment on a friend’s outfit.
2. Take a walk with a friend.
Invite a friend on a mindful walk outside. Even if you can’t think of something to talk about, falling in step with them and enjoying each other’s company is good enough.
3. Bring them a prepared meal.
Share it with them — or not. Sharing is caring. If you know of a friend who’s struggling, either financially or emotionally, bring them their favorite homemade meal.
4. Write letters.
While a text can revitalize an old friendship, writing letters shows genuine and heartfelt thoughtfulness. Letters are also a great keepsake for receivers.
5. Spend quality time together.
Even if it means not doing anything! You don’t have to force an activity when spending quality time with friends. Sometimes the most authentic way to strengthen a friendship is to spend time in each other’s presence, doing nothing but watching television or playing a game.
6. Host a dinner party or game night.
Make this fun! Plan an entire menu with themed snacks, games, and decorations. Send invitations, whether handwritten or via an app.
