Listening To Our Emotions In “Inside Out 2”

Disney and Pixar have released a film that is fun and family-friendly. “Inside Out” is one of my favorite Pixar films, but when I heard they were creating a sequel, I was pretty skeptical with Disney’s current trajectory. I’m happy to say that “Inside Out 2” was not only a solid follow-up to the original, but a solid film overall.

As always, the animation and vocal work is great and there are a lot of good lessons in the film. One of the messages I appreciated most was that our emotions don’t make us who we are. The Bible tells us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5). As humans, our understanding too often comes from what we can see, hear and feel. Only listening to our feelings will lead us to places that we shouldn’t be and making decisions that aren’t healthy. We are flawed people, complex and full of contradictions, but when we trust in God to mold us, we will become the best versions of ourselves.

Big City Greens: Spacecation
Ultraman Rising

Big City Greens: Spacecation | Rating: G | Platform: Disney+

Feeling like an extended episode rather than a traditional film, “Spacecation” finds the Green family taking an unexpected vacation in the unforgiving vacuum of space. The film is well done with the voice talent bringing their best to the project. A worthwhile watch for fans of the show.

Ultraman Rising | Rating: PG | Platform: Netflix

Unconnected to previous incarnations of the Tokusatsu icon, “Ultraman Rising” is a heartfelt story about family, fatherhood, humility and learning what it takes to be a hero. Other than taking the Lord’s name in vain too many times, the film is fantastic and accessible for anyone, not just hardcore fans.
